Shameless Product Review: Simple Mills

So in doing this whole vegan-ish, plantbased-ish, gluten free thing, you find yourself limited on what you can have for snacks. Sure, carrot sticks and cucumber chips are healthy, but they can get a bit boring after awhile and make you decide you hate veggies, which is the opposite of what we're trying to accomplish. And while you can gorge yourself on tortilla chips, I'm not sure that's the way to go if you're seeking to stick with the healthy route.

Enter Simply Mills.

Simple Mills

I stumbled on these products purely by accident (meaning while I was salivating and willing to eat my foot during my Paleo phase). I picked up a box and decided to try it because not only was I able to pronounce the ingredients (like almond flour, tapioca, and organic onion), but I was thrilled to see there was no gluten, sugar, grain, dairy, nothing that would cause me to declare a cheat day. I figured they must taste like pure dirt, right? WRONG! I started with the Simple Mills Rosemary Crackers. De-freaking-lishous. It was like biting into an Italian delicacy. The crackers are lightly salted, extremely savory, and go great with hummus, dip, or even cheese...if you're into that sort of thing. Even my father likes these crackers, and he's a chips/crackers connoisseur who thinks "gluten free" equals, "destined to taste like cardboard.

Since my love affair with the rosemary flavor, I've since fallen for their cheddar, sea salt, and jalapeno sprouted crackers. And the cookies are to die for! You would never know these are not gluten free, and although they are not devoid of sugar you can eat a few to satisfy your sweet tooth and not worry that you are ingesting poison because they are made with coconut and cane sugar. I think the folks at Simple Mills are simply magical, and I would kiss them if I could for making such a delicious and deliciously health-conscious product.

Simple Mills also makes several other products, including baking mixes, pizza doughs, and frosting. I can't say I've tried their baking products, but I was suckered into trying a sample of the frosting at Wholefoods and Oh-Em-Gee it was yum. Trust me, you will love these products. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the price tag, which is usually in the realm of $5 per box. And when you can devour them in one sitting, that price is a bit hefty. Head on over to Amazon though and you can score a discount; I've ordered several three-packs of the rosemary crackers to save money.

Let me know what you think!
